Hi, I wonder if you remember us. Mike & Debra Young. We had the Pyrenean from England "Charlie". Unfortunately we had to send Charlie to doggie heaven two weeks ago. He died under tragic circumstances. We had him groomed, and something happened there that we don't know about but the end result was that he got a blood clot in his leg and he died a week later. We are all still in shock. He was such a huge part of our lives. If you could write a book on an animal, Charlie would have volumes written about him. Sorry to contact you under such sad circumstances. Congratulations on all the 'firsts' you have had. Your dogs are beautiful.

I am an avid Pyr fan and have been ever since I saw them on Westminster. We got a Pyr male born on 25 dec 96 on Valentine's Day of last year. Eiger is now 115# and about 29" at the shoulder. We have kept track of two of his siblings and while he is heavier--he was the biggest one in the litter--he is the shortest. His mother was 32" and 130# while his father was 29" and 110#. So it looks as if we'll get dad's height and mom's weight. I used to breed dalmations and have two champions aged 10 (male) and nine (female and, of course, the alpha next to my husband and me). Interestingly enough, all of our other four dogs were rescue cases; Eiger we bought. Opus who is my first champion and out of Gold Coast Dalmations of San Francisco was returned to the breeder at nine months for being "too playful." Zulu was dumped off at the pound at approximately twelve weeks due to her "smile" and bitchy temperment (only the smile remains today). Austin is our four year old 50%samoyed, 30% wolf, 20% malamute that was on his way to a solitary pen in San Antonio when we rescued him at 5 months. Grady is the only one who's history is a little uncertain as we found him on the side of the road. He is a full flat coated retriever per the breeders to whom I've taken him and certainly looks and acts it based on the books I've read. Our vet told us to pick a number between 7 and 10 so we decided on eight since we already have 9 and 10. They all live in the house and all get along extremely well. Actually it was our "flatie" that was the live chew toy for our Pyr. Anyway, I'm sure this is more interesting to me than to anyone else. I wanted to let you know that this is just a TREMENDOUS site and I am especially curious as to where you are located and/or if you advertise in Dog Fancy or some other magazine so that when the time comes for us to get another dog (we've already decided it'll be a Pyr but not until the dals have moved on), we can be sure to contact you. Obviously our enjoyment these days comes merely from owning and loving versus showing and I'm not sure how you feel about that but I do know that not every litter puts out 100% show quality dogs. Anyway, thanks for a terrific site and rearing such majestic creatures!

I acquired my first Pyr from a farm in Missouri, when I
was living in the Kansas City area. I returned to New Jersey,
where a veterinarian essentially killed him during a routine
ear cleaning and nail trim. He was only three. I think he might
have been oversedated. Anyway, that was about four years ago.
My wife and I just moved into our current home in Edison, New Jersey.
She knows nothing about the breed apart from what I've told her about
"Nick." We'd like to visit an excellent breeder in the area, if there is
one, to see some of the dogs and puppies.
Can you give us some suggestions? Thanks!

Thea Hambright
Hi Auntie Karen! What's happening with you?
Victor and Alex send their regards. We went to the
show in Troy 2 weeks ago, hoping to see some pyr friends,
but Keeper was a "no-show" and Nicole Sharp's dog was
the only one who showed. When are you coming up for dinner?
Now that our pal Gimlet is retired you must have some free time.
Come and see us sometime. Hope you're doing well.
Give the "kids" a kiss for me!

Love the site. We have a 3 year old Pry named Contessa, every bit the royalty her name implies. She will only obey when she deems it appropriate.
I was happy to see that this is indigenous to the breed, not just that my
dog is too dumb to learn. She is, however, the most loving and adoring dog on earth.

Just visited your website for the first time. Just love it. Love your dogs. I have a Pyr, his name is Beethoven. I adopted him from the Humane Society. I fell in love with him the minute I saw him. His gentleness impressed me. They are so loving. He is a 115lbs. gentle giant. I have an handicapped son who is scared of most animals but it sure is different with Beethoven he just adores him. He seems to know that my son is handicapped. My husband went to get our Pyr some goats, since we read that they love them. Boy, he wont let anyone get close to those goats. He is always watching out for them. I work at an animal hospital and see many different breeds, but there are none like the Pyr. I have been thinking of getting a puppy. We have plenty of land for them to roam. Thanks again for you website. I will visit again and again. INGRID

Enjoyed your website. You and the web goddesses have done a great job. I think the GPCA should add a new class at the Nationals: Best Web Site. There sure are a lot of them springing up this year. Yours is one of the best.
As I try to follow my boy Jake as he bounces around the country, I keep seeing your tribe listed. They all seem to be doing well, too.
Seems like this year is the year of the "bitch special". Lot of them out there. Couple of our girls will be cruising Middleburg and Tennessee in the next several weeks with different handlers. Anyway, keep up the good work and don't be a stranger.

I am looking for a pyr the quality of gimlet. stopped raising Rotties about 5 years ago because of the proliferation of backyard breeders and decided on a pyr because it was 47th in the breed rankings which is what rotties were when I imported my first one in the early seventies. also, I like massive dogs. I need a male, puppy to 3 yrs. with a guarantee against congenital defect or disease and serious or disqualifying faults. I have 6 nieces & nephews, a schipperke, and three horses that he should be compatible with. I greatly prefer the large size and solid white,no shading. My last rottie died of old age almost two years ago and I'm ready for another large dog. I may show to a championship or not, haven't decided. I trained a number of dogs professionaly for police work, cd, cdx, ut, sch1, etc. I've learned a few things about many breeds over th! e years and have been sold on pyrs for quite some time. There's nothing more regal than a pyr lumbering around the show ring. If you have or are expecting a dog that meets my criteria, contact me by e-mail. Thank you.

So I decided to get into this website to check it out, and let me tell you it brought tears to my eyes to see those wonderful pictures of those puppies. I can't believe how small they looked, and then to grow up into such big prideful looking dogs. Thank you so much for the info. I'm going to get one soon! Sincerly yours, Julia Swartz
